Goal: The homeowner wanted a well-placed ADU large enough for guests.

Design Challenge: Space for the ADU was limited because of the cul-de-sac lot, a 5% slope, and existing retaining walls.

Process and Solution: The customer knew roughly the size of ADU they wanted to build and that they wanted a one bedroom unit. We designed a 22’x38’ single story ADU, 13’ in height, for the homeowners rear yard. The final ADU included a 150 square foot bedroom, a 385 square foot open concept kitchen/living area, a bathroom with a full tub and shower, and a separate laundry area with a side-by-side washer and dryer. The homeowner also wanted an EV charger which required specific driveway/electrical configurations.
